Messages of protest have flourished along this departmental road close to the route of the motorway project. The local committee of the radical environmentalist collective thus marks its arrival in the fight against this fifty-year-old project. “We revolt against this senseless infrastructure which will destroy natural habitats and agricultural land by covering them with bitumen. This project is undemocratic because it does not respect local and peasant protests, it is destructive because it will damage a rich natural area sheltering among others the European beaver and it is a contradiction because it develops an individual and polluting mode of transport while it is more necessary than ever to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
