La Cloche, a national association fighting the exclusion of people in precarious situations, is launching a call for donations from November 6 to 21, 2024 to support its flagship program Le Carillon. Launched in 2015, this network allows businesses and other neighborhood places to take action against extreme exclusion by offering free products and services to people in precarious situations.
Behind every business door, there is a story. But beyond the products sold, some businesses create much more: they build connections, restore dignity and restore confidence to those whom society has too often forgotten.
Traders active in local solidarity
“Imagine a baker who, every morning, greets a homeless person by their first name, offering them much more than a coffee: a smile, recognition. That's what Le Carillon is all about. A unique program that makes every business a place of solidarity, where the most deprived find a part of humanity, a little human warmth and consideration”, explains Pauline Deluca, head of the Marseille branch of La Cloche sud.
Le Carillon, a network of nearly 1,300 merchants spread across 36 cities in mainland France, has already made it possible to create thousands of moments of social connection thanks to simple actions: a suspended coffee, an ApéRue or even a shared meal . “Every gesture is an outstretched hand that says: You are part of this society.”
Simple actions that change lives
“As precariousness and the feeling of isolation continue to increase – in 2023, more than 9 million French people were poor according to INSEE – it is urgent to reaffirm and remobilize our fundamental values of solidarity, “mutual aid and fraternity This is why we are calling on the generosity of everyone so that each business can continue to be a beacon in the night of social exclusion and so that others can join the movement,” concludes. Pauline Deluca.
