A resident of Saint-Herblain (Loire-Atlantique) filed a complaint against X, in October 2024, for endangering others through negligence. He deplores a proliferation of wild boars in a wooded area in the center of the town, reports Le Figaro. He believes that the town hall should react.
The area has now been infested by these animals for four years. There are currently at least three adults and four pigs, details Le Figaro. The animals particularly attack the surrounding gardens. “They laid down my peach tree and destroyed my leeks and my strawberries, looking for roots”explained the complainant, who is not the only one to be a victim.
Dangerous animals
Another concern: wild boars can have dangerous reactions. “A neighbor had to take refuge on the playground slide when she saw a wild boar rushing towards her”the resident told the daily. Targeted, his wife also had to take shelter behind a tree.
In several letters consulted by our colleagues, the town hall puts the responsibility back on the prefecture, specifying that a search is complicated to set up due to the direct proximity to homes. For its part, the Departmental Directorate of Territories and the Sea (DDTM) has authorized the use of wild boar cages, but this solution has not yet been validated by the town hall.
