In the morning, shortly before 11 a.m., this Sunday, November 3, a man was found dead in the town of Coly-Saint-Amand, in Dordogne. According to the prosecution, the victim, aged 49, was shot and killed. His body was found a few meters from his vehicle, “by the side of the road and lying on a gun”, a hunting rifle.
What happened? It is difficult at this stage to know the circumstances of this tragedy. According to the first elements communicated by the Dordogne public prosecutor's office, a search was underway in the town in which the victim resided. Several hunters who participated were interviewed in the afternoon.
An investigation was opened in conjunction with the Sarlat gendarmerie company and the French Biodiversity Office, due to the hunting context. The prosecution confirms that the deceased “presents an injury appearing to come from a gunshot”, but adds that “the circumstances of death remain to be determined”.
An autopsy of the body for “recover the bullet and carry out ballistic assessments” should take place this week.
