VIDEO REPORT – Adventurer and real hothead, Guirec Soudée has set himself the goal of being on the starting line of the next Vendée Globe. Le Figaro accompanied him during his preparation.

At 33, Guirec Soudée has already had several lives. After growing up on an island belonging to his family in Côtes-d'Armor, he left his large siblings shortly before reaching adulthood, heading for Australia. His goal: to do a series of odd jobs in order to be able to buy his first sailboat. In 2014, the objective was achieved and he left for 5 years on the seas of the world accompanied by his hen Monique. It was during this long journey that he came up with the idea of competing against the 39 other Imoca sailboats in the Vendée Globe.

Guirec Soudée, the hothead of the seas

For almost three years, surrounded by a team of self-taught friends, Guirec Soudée has been preparing for this grand deadline of November 10, 2024, when the start of this solo, unassisted world tour will ring from Les Sables-d'Olonne. and non-stop. On board his 18 meter long boat, without foil, which is not his project, a prioria favorite, this sea daredevil is expected to sail three months away from his partner and two young children.

If his profile is more that of a hyperactive adventurer, his preparation was no less rigorous: technical exercises, navigation training, search for sponsors, boat building sites, etc.

Over the months, Le Figaro followed Guirec Soudée in his preparation. Relive the last two years with our video report.
