Several students from the Maurice-Genevoix college in Couzeix (Haute-Vienne) were insulted by a fake TikTok account using the school's nickname. Informed of the situation, the college decided to file a complaint.
Dozens of students from the Maurice-Genevoix college in Couzeix, near Limoges (Haute-Vienne), saw screenshots of their accounts TikTok personal broadcast this Friday, November 15 by a false profile, entitled “mauricegenevoix87” from the name of the educational establishment, report France Bleu Limousin et The People of the Center.
These messages were accompanied by insults, mockery or even “degrading gossip”, specifies the local radio, or even details about certain romantic relationships between teenagers. The establishment and several parents of students decided to file a complaint this Tuesday, November 19.
Rapid account closure requested
“I was informed by parents of students that their child had been photographed on a TikTok site bearing the name of the college,” confides Corinne Ruffinoni, principal of the college, speaking to the local branch of France Bleu. “It has a strange effect,” she continues.
After bringing together the students concerned to learn more about the fake account, the principal of the establishment wanted the TikTok profile to be closed immediately.
“I also warned the parents of these students by alerting them to the use of social networks for their children and the impact that this can have on them,” explained Corinne Ruffinoni to our colleagues at Populaire du Center.
This Tuesday, November 19, the college management announced that it had filed a complaint for “identity theft”. For the moment, nothing has made it possible to find the person hidden behind the fake account and, even if the latter still exists on the web, the photos of the students have indeed disappeared.
