How French Remembrance cultivates the duty of memory
Guy Genet for French Remembrance and Christine Picard, for the City of Dreux, laid a wreath at the foot of each monument dedicated to the dead for France as well as to civilian victims.
Rare but essential donations
In his speech, Guy Genet recalled that the ceremony had been organized since 1890 and that it aimed to pay tribute to the fighters who died for France as well as to the civilian victims of armed conflicts.
The president of French Souvenir added that it was also, on this occasion, to raise funds for the renovation of the tombs. “Donations are becoming increasingly rare and yet the needs are great,” he stressed.
