In the city center of Paris, the town hall has established a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) of approximately 5.5 km². Only emergency vehicles, buses, taxis and motorists residing or working there will be able to cross it.

Fewer vehicles in the city center of Paris. From next Tuesday, any motorist will be prohibited from crossing the first four arrondissements of the capital without reason. Only residents, workers, customers in the area, emergency vehicles, taxis and public transport will be able to circulate there. This measure, ignored by many Parisians, was put in place by the city hall. Thus, around forty signs will be unveiled Monday evening indicating the entry into the ZTL.

The objective is to reduce noise and pollution in the center of Paris. With this new initiative, the town hall expects a reduction in traffic volume on the busiest arteries, with –30% avenue de l’Opéra, for example.
