A fatal accident occurred early this Friday, November 1, 2024 on the A13 motorway, at the Heudebouville toll (Eure), towards Paris. Three men were killed when their vehicle violently collided with a concrete block located at the entrance to the toll booth.
According to the Eure prefecture, “this morning, around 6:30 a.m., a vehicle traveling on the A13 motorway, in the province-Paris direction, crashed into a concrete block located at the entrance to the Heudebouville tollbooth”. The violence of the impact leaves little doubt that the car was arriving at high speed at the time of the collision.
The three occupants of the vehicle died, despite the rapid intervention of emergency services. The Eure departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS) mobilized 24 firefighters to the scene. The latter tried to resuscitate the victims, in vain. The rear passenger, a 35-year-old man, was able to be quickly extracted from the car, while the two occupants in the front, more heavily incarcerated, required extrication operations carried out by the firefighters.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy. This was entrusted to the departmental road safety squadron of the national gendarmerie under the authority of the Évreux public prosecutor's office. Toxicological analyzes are also underway.
The emergency response required the temporary closure of several toll lanes, causing delays in the Normandy-Paris direction. “By mid-morning, there was no longer any impact on traffic on the A13 motorway”assured the prefecture in its press release.
