In Gard, at the suggestion of Carole Delga, 194 files received regional aid representing a total amount of nearly €3.465 million.

Focus on some projects (non-exhaustive list):

1- Alès and Nîmes

The Region finances the meals

A balanced diet is one of the pillars of public health and regional policies since the launch of the Sustainable Food Pact, but it is sometimes inaccessible to the most modest. The Region has therefore decided to intervene with the most vulnerable groups. This is how nearly 200 young people aged 16 to 25, students of the department’s second chance schools, benefit from one meal per day supported by the Region at €7 per day per person. Regional elected officials thus voted for two financial aid: more than €12,000 to Greta du Gard, which runs the second chance school in Alès, and €37,000 to the Peuple et Culture du Gard association which runs that of Nimes.

2- Vézenobres

The self-service restaurant of the family home is expanding

The start of work to extend the family and rural home is planned for September. The surface area of the refectory of this training establishment – La Gardonnenque – will soon double, thanks to an extension of 104 m2. With the opening of new courses, the number of students increased from 140 to 220 in six years, making the cafeteria too small to provide a single service. The Region is contributing more than €93,000 to this project.

3- Let’s go

The premises of the associations rehabilitated

Open for around twenty years, the premises of the Fons associations required energy renovation work, for which the Region contributed €10,000. Parents’ association, leisure association, sports association… it is now a space open to all. Located in the heart of the village, near schools, the place becomes a practical, comfortable and… more economical place for intergenerational meetings. The Region stands in solidarity with municipalities in their developments to guarantee common living and meeting spaces, essential to the well-being of residents.

4- Saint-Sauveur-Camprieu

The dam must be consolidated

The dam of the legendary Lac du Bonheur, a two-hectare body of water at the foot of the Aigoual, must undergo rehabilitation and improvement work. A diagnosis established during the emptying and cleaning of the lake showed cracks requiring rapid intervention. Work is expected to begin in August and be completed by the end of October this year. A project in which the Region contributes financially to the tune of €21,000.

5- Rivers

Local grocery store

Co-managers of the O’Local grocery store, Valérie and Marion opened their store in March and offer local products and on-the-go meals. The Region helps them get settled with aid of more than €4,600 intended to acquire a cold room, a refrigerated cabinet and a coffee machine. Later, the partners would also like to install a terrace in the grocery store’s courtyard. A great project to follow!

6- Save

The school goes green

The 150 children at the Florian school will benefit from new outdoor spaces from September. The floors will in particular be de-waterproofed and the courtyards planted with vegetation to keep things fresh. Green walls, arbors, water recovery tanks, vegetable garden, installation of wooden games, etc. are planned in this 4000 m2 space. This project, for the well-being of children, is fully in line with the regional policy of revegetation and de-waterproofing of soils which must allow the runoff of rainwater, essential for our water tables. The Region supports these achievements with €80,000.

7- Calvisson

A new field at the municipal stadium

Goodbye lawn. Damaged, generating false rebounds… it was removed in favor of a synthetic covering, more economical in watering and maintenance, and more suitable for intensive sporting use. The 350 members of the football club and the schoolchildren, who will use this space from September, will be able to train there as much as they want in much better conditions. The locker rooms have also been enlarged. The Region financially supports these changes to the tune of €80,000.

8- Uzès

A new swimming pool at the top!

It should open in the fall of 2025 in the Pompidou district and will welcome all audiences, as well as sports clubs. But it is especially the schools which are the priority of the Community of Communes of the country of Uzès, which will be responsible for transport, admissions and lessons for primary and nursery children in the area.

A 25-meter body of water and an 80 m2 learning pool are planned. The new structure will use 75% renewable energy, such as geothermal energy, to heat the pools and solar panels for the toilets. The water filtration system will significantly limit the consumption of water, chemicals and energy. The Region is granting €500,000 for this great achievement.

9- Le Grau-du-Roi

Containment greenhouses for vines

The French Institute of Vine and Wine (IFV) conducts research aimed at anticipating climate change and preserving the wine genetic heritage. This involves research in the areas of plant breeding, viniculture, winemaking and product marketing.

The Institute is now strengthening the protection of 600 varieties of vine plants by placing them above ground, in Grau-du-Roi, in a 2,000 m2 containment greenhouse. This technique keeps them away from the main diseases and makes it possible to check their adaptation to climate change.

After support for the first tranche, regional elected officials have just granted new funding of €250,000 at the end of May to support the continuation of the project, i.e. a total of €500,000. Four hectares of photovoltaic greenhouses will be built in Gard and four others in Tarn, to confine plant multiplication activities.
