Envelopes weighing more than 100 g for each voter in Pays de la Loire. This is the average weight of what postal workers must distribute to the 1.2 million voters in Maine-et-Loire, Sarthe and Mayenne for the European elections. A real overload of work for Claire Marchaison, CFDT correspondent at La Poste.

It’s really a challenge, there’s a mountain to distribute. It’s very intense to manage such a quantity in such a short time frame. says the trade unionist. Postal workers from the three departments have, in total, just over a week to send all the envelopes, which must arrive by June 8, 2024 at the latest. The CFDT is therefore demanding a bonus for these agents under pressure .

Elections are part of “their contract”

On May 13, 2024, they had already requested it… Arguing that it still existed around ten years ago. It was refused directly by management. The Post Office justifies itself: The distribution of political propaganda is part of their contracts. We make sure to smooth the entire distribution to limit their workload.

As for the old bonus for elections, it was a long time ago. At that time, there was also a tight flow of letters in addition to these envelopes, this represented a real work overload . In Brittany, Morbihan and Finistère, certain postmen called for a strike this week, for the same reasons.
