The submerged vehicle was extricated and towed. It will be assessed over the next few hours.

A car plunged into the Rivière des Prairies, in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, around 4:50 a.m. Sunday in Montreal. A man was reportedly seen near the fully submerged car.
According to witnesses to the event, the vehicle was traveling on Saint-Hubert Street in a northbound direction before crossing Park Stanley Avenue and ending up in the river.
One of the witnesses allegedly tried to save the man from the water, but the force of the current and the darkness prevented him from doing so.
A rescue operation to try to find the occupant of the vehicle took place during the day.

Teams from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) as well as the Montreal Fire Safety Service (SIM) and the Coast Guard participated in the search.
THE SPVM ended the operation, but the investigation continues to try to understand the circumstances that led the vehicle to plunge into the waters of the Rivière des Prairies.
No one was located in the vehicle or in the surrounding area
reported the SPVM at the end of the afternoon. The research that was carried out on the banks on the Montreal side as well as Laval […] gave nothing.
It is still not possible to confirm whether there were other people on board.
