(Keystone-ATS) Even though there was a slight easing of the weather front on Sunday, Lake Constance rose to danger level 3, according to MeteoSwiss. The level of this lake like those of the Haut-Rhin should rise again on Monday.

Danger level 3 is maintained on the Haut-Rhin from the mouth of the Aare to the exit from Swiss territory, we read on the MeteoSwiss website. The level of Lake Constance will continue to rise, with the alert level raised to level 3 on Sunday.

By Monday afternoon, an additional 25 to 50 millimeters of precipitation are expected over the central and eastern northern slopes of the Alps as well as the northern plateau. Locally, quantities could reach up to 70 mm.

Northeast Switzerland: new alert

New precipitation, associated with already saturated soils, could cause further increases in flow, potentially significant on small and medium-sized rivers. A regional alert is again issued for the north-east of Switzerland.

Over the past 24 hours, 1 to 5 mm of precipitation fell north of the Alps, and sometimes up to 5 to 12 mm fell in the far north of Switzerland.

On Sunday afternoon, the risk of precipitation was expected to increase again, after the intense precipitation temporarily decreased from Saturday morning to Sunday morning: in fact, the “Radha” depression, which has caused heavy rain in central Switzerland in recent days and eastern, moved slowly towards the east while weakening.
