The Leafs have several players becoming free agents this summer. In defense TJ Brodie, Joel Edmundson, Mark Giordano And Ilya Lyubushkin will all be able to test the free agent market. In attack, Max Domi And Tyler Bertuzzi are in the same situation and according to the information circulating, the Leafs would like to keep both of them.

If interest is mutual in a contract extension, it appears those discussions are now underway in Bertuzzi’s case, according to David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period. He specifies, however, that it is a little too early to determine whether the two parties might be able to reach a new agreement, but they are working on it.

It is still very early in the process to predict what will happen next, but the Leafs have started contract discussions with winger Tyler Bertuzzi who could become a UFA.

Last summer, the winger signed a one-year contract with the Leafs worth $4.75 million. Even though he didn’t have his best season offensively with the Leafs, he was very solid, collecting 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points. He also brings a lot of character to the attack.

His style of play will certainly please the new coach Craig Berubeif he returns with the team.

In 406 career games, he collected 261 points including 113 goals. His best season dates back to 2021-22 when he scored 30 goals in addition to adding 32 assists for 62 points in 68 games.

It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he might sign. A salary between 5 and 6 million for 4-5 years would make a lot of sense.
