The National Union of Combatants (UNC), Pont du Gard section, was invited to the courtyard of the Duchy in Uzès, Friday May 24, to the baptism of the 111th promotion of the 21 initial volunteer volunteers of the equipment regiment of the Garrigues camp in Nimes. The UNC-Pont du Gard was represented by section secretary Patrick Dal Molin, replacing president René Dumalle, and the UNC du Gard was represented by its recently elected president Serge Henry.

Many standard bearers from veterans’ associations were also present: the National Union of Paratroopers, the Marine Troops as well as the Fraternité Drakkar association. The ceremony was presided over by Major General Richard Ohnet, Commander of Ground Forces Maintenance. He was welcomed by Lieutenant-Colonel Meunier, commander of the initial training center of the 1st Materiel Regiment (CFIM). Families were also present as well as several elected officials representing the municipality.

The 111th promotion was made up of a section from the 6th equipment regiment of Besançon and the 4th equipment regiment of Nîmes. At the end of their 11-week training, volunteer recruits will be given the certificate of completion of initial military training which will confer on them the status of soldier in the land forces. The young people involved received their baptismal name “chief sergeant Laurent Paczek” during this ceremony.
