“Response to Me Oumar Youm, who gave a lesson today, who was president of the Benno Bokk Yakar parliamentary group.
Me Oumar Youm, what did you do to criminalize homosexuality when you were president of the parliamentary group and you hold a comfortable majority to vote for the law criminalizing this abominable act? I remind you if your memory is short or you want to fool the Senegalese that it was you who blocked the law. It did not even go to the committee so that parliamentarians could debate it. Now wanting to set yourself up as a defender of this Law by avoiding the new regime of criminalizing homosexuality while knowing that it is you who is still in the majority in the assembly is truly demagoguery.

Mr. Youm, we have no lessons to learn from you. So that no one is unaware, it was you yourself as president of the Benno Bokk Yakar parliamentary group who blocked the Law. If it were not for your maneuvers, homosexuality would be criminalized in Senegal today and this debate would never have taken place. You only want to fuel a debate which has no reason to exist politically after your debacle of March 24.

Me Youm, you are well placed as a trained jurist and lawyer to know the separation of powers and that the executive power that we currently hold cannot in any way pass a law without the parliamentary majority of which you hold validating it. . Mr. Lesson Giver, what are you waiting for to propose a law criminalizing homosexuality once and for all if you are really serious? No, you are not interested in Lio. Just want to distract the Senegalese to direct the political debate elsewhere as you are used to doing. Aware that the regime is in the process of implementing fundamental reforms which will necessarily change the daily experience of the Senegalese. Something you were incapable of doing for 12 years in office. Your moral lessons keep them for yourself when the time comes homosexuality will be criminalized today insha’Allah.
