Build a cycle path from your village to reach the nearest station in complete safety, this is the dream of a large number of residents of small towns, dependent on almost non-existent public transport. The “Les Slow Fous” association of Larchant (Seine-et-Marne) decided to help make this dream a reality with the support of many residents and the support of the municipality.

The Slow Fous organized a public information meeting to examine the four known projects and vote on the prioritization of the soft link. For the record, three of the old projects do not correspond to the need to get to the station by the shortest route (6 kilometers), because they are more tourist and family routes in the forest and in the countryside. The fourth project proposes a link using the D16.

Despite the obstacles he will have to overcome, the 4e project was chosen unanimously.

Obstacles

There is no shortage of arguments in favor of the D16 development project, in this part of the department which is under-provided with cycle paths. Using a bicycle on the main road is very dangerous : presence of numerous trucks, excessive speed of vehicles, sun in the eyes on the way there and on the way back, absence of warning signs on the overtaking of bicycles and on dangerous places, numerous accidents recorded, including a fatal accident…

In short, the D 16 is not, as it stands, a road made for bicycles. But significant obstacles will have to be overcome, both financial and technical. The Slow Fools are launching a call to contribute and participate in a working group.
