Spring of the 13th century: Tarn power 4

Spring of the 13th century: Tarn power 4
Spring of the 13th century: Tarn power 4

It’s an orange tide that’s about to invade the streets of Narbonne and its emblematic Parc des Sports et de l’Amitié. With two teams in the final (U17 and Elite) this Sunday, the Tigres d’Albi intend to tame their opponents on the field and in the stands to bring the shields home.

A glorious legacy, which players will want to perpetuate after 47 years of scarcity. Five shields fill the Tarn club’s trophy cabinet (1938, 1956, 1958, 1962, 1977). Sunday, Albi will play the seventh final in its history and one including a fourth against Carcassonne. Beyond the Albigensian club which travels to Narbonne, an entire department is represented for the final phases of this 2023-2024 edition. And which has generated real enthusiasm in the episcopal city and its surroundings, where an entire population is ready to support its flag teams.

With 4 finalist clubs for this Spring of XIII: Albi (U17 and Elite), Lescure Féminines, Villefranche d’Albigeois and Réalmont, Tarn demonstrates here the quality of its training and the richness of its pool of players. A virtuous circle organized between local entities which consolidates the thirteen strongholds and promotes the practice of rugby union to the youngest in an exemplary manner. Long-term work undertaken by passionate leaders and volunteers which ends up being rewarded. On Sunday the bells of Saint-Cécile Cathedral will perhaps ring, in the heart of the department which advances to power 4, at the end of the season…
