On Tuesday July 2, 2024, the Lille metropolis will be the place of passing of the Olympic flame. To facilitate the movement of spectators in the area of Tourcoing, Roubaix et Lille, Ileviain charge of public transportadapts and strengthens its offer.

More metros

Metro trains will run more on July 2.

  • Line 1 will be reinforced and will run with a frequency of 1min 20 to 2min 30 during the day. Line 1 will run normally this Tuesday July 2 between 10:30 p.m. and until the end of service.
  • Line 2 will also be reinforced, with a frequency of 1min30 to 2min30 during the day to allow users to travel along the route of the Olympic flame for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

A bus offer adapted for the event

Throughout the day, several bus lines will be diverted to the Lille and Roubaix/Tourcoing sector, and certain line terminals will be modified. Certain lines located within the perimeter of the passage of the flame will not run: the Navette du Vieux-Lille, the Citadine de Lille, the L91E, the 9, the C12 and the Z6.

P+R relay car parks

To make the most of this event, it is possible for users with a transport ticket (single ticket, day pass or regular subscription) to access the 12 park-and-ride (P+R) of the MEL.

“Located at strategic points, in the immediate vicinity of a metro station, a tram station, a bus interchange hub or a TER station and with direct access from motorway routes, the P+ R facilitate access to downtown Lille, commercial areas and all destinations in the Metropolis,” underlines Ilévia

The Ilévia teams mobilized for the occasion

In order to relieve congestion at agencies and ticket vending machines, Ilévia is setting up a reinforced transport ticket sales system. “Acrobats will be present at several strategic points to sell tickets in person outside the stations,” assures the MEL public transport manager.

Finally, with Open Payment, it is possible to use your bank card directly on the gates, in the following metro stations: Gare Lille Flandres, Gare Lille Europe, Gambetta, Rihour, République–Beaux-Arts, Les Prés Edgar Pisani, 4 Cantons Stade Pierre Mauroy Decathlon Arena, Cite Scientifique, Tourcoing Gare.
