Tambacounda, Oct 19 (APS) – The director general of the Local Development Agency (ADL), Diamé Signaté, handed over on Saturday a batch of materials, including sewing machines, to young people and women in the Tambacounda region (east), with a view to encouraging local entrepreneurship.
The beneficiaries, including Koranic schools, received their share of equipment including oil presses and mobile bakeries, on the sidelines of an information sharing workshop on the empowerment of young people and women.
“We put back […] equipment such as sewing machines, oil presses and mobile bakeries to young people, women and daaras,” said the ADL director general.
“What we are doing today is much more than just handing over equipment, it is the momentum of a community rising to build its future. And this future rests on the youth, to whom we owe support and support to make them autonomous and settle them in the land,” said Mr. Signaté.
According to Mr. Signaté, the Local Development Agency has set up projects and programs to enable young people and women to benefit from training, support and supervision, at the same time as funding. “for their social well-being”.
He says he is committed alongside local authorities and territorial executives to promote local development at the municipal level.
The information sharing workshop attended by the CEO of the ADL focused on the theme “Empowerment of young people and women to encourage local entrepreneurship, fight against unemployment and irregular emigration”.
It is part of the national tour initiated by the ADL to meet local authorities but also to provide support for the economic initiatives of young people and women.
