From October to December 2024, several towns on the coast celebrate the return of the scallopfishing for which was opened on October 1. After the launch of the festivities in Honfleur on October 12 and 13, five municipalities concoct a program with little onions.

Ouistreham, October 19 and 20

The town of Ouistreham is celebrating the weekend of Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20. For this new edition, a rich program awaits visitors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during both days.

At the foot of the lighthouse, it will be possible to witness the navigation of miniature boats on a basin, to visit the launch of the nautical brigade of the National Gendarmerie, to go on a “Discovery of the sea” walking tour or even to witness at the concert of the “Les Mat’lots d’Ouistreham” group of sea shanties on Sunday at 2 p.m.

For children, inflatable structures and treetops will also be there.

On the Place du Général de Gaulle, a sale of scallops, but also fish and shellfish at the Fish Market on both days.

Villers-sur-Mer, October 25, 26 and 27

The 29th shell festival of the Côte Fleurie seaside resort offers three days of entertainment from Friday October 25 to Sunday October 27. During these three days, visitors will be able to discover gastronomy around the famous scallops. The wine and gastronomy fair will also be back, dozens of exhibitors will be present: local specialties, wines… This market will offer a farandole of products and discoveries in order to leave with flavors and memories. Without forgetting the musical discoveries with a varied program to discover soon.

Port-en-Bessin, November 9 and 10

Le Goût du Large is THE annual shell festival in Port-en-Bessin. The fishing village, 1st port in and 6th in , expects 30,000 spectators Saturday November 9 and Sunday November 10. In addition to the sale and tasting of seafood, the event is hosted by the Musique sous les Embruns festival (read pages 6 and 7). Old rigging, entertainment of all kinds will brighten up the quays.

Courseulles-sur-Mer, November 23 and 24

The City of Courseulles will meet on Saturday November 23 and Sunday November 24 for the 8th edition of the Shell Festival, seafood and gastronomy. The scallop will be honored through culinary demonstrations and tastings orchestrated by local chefs. Sale of shells and seafood products on site.

In addition to tastings, the Shell Festival will offer numerous activities for the whole family: shell peeling competitions, rescue dog demonstrations, workshops for children, concerts, seafood stands, visit by the SNSM star , sea trip, photo exhibition and workshop on recycling and sustainable development.

Grandcamp-Maisy, November 30 and December 1

Saint Jacques en Fête is an opportunity to meet the fishermen from Grandcamp-Maisy. On the program for Saturday November 30 and Sunday December 1: sale of seafood under the auction, market around the sea and the land, distribution of recipes, tastings of shells cooked by the fishermen’s wives, meals and concerts under the marquee…
