Sixteen hikers from the Boé Randonnée association went to discover the Haute- from September 28 to October 5. On the program for this sporting, cultural and friendly journey, a hike on the Way of Saint-Jacques de Compostela between Saugues and Saint-Privat-d’Allier, passing through Monistrol-d’Allier. Then the village of Prades overlooked by basalt organs and the surprising Romanesque chapel of des Chazes before reaching the village of Saint Julien des Chazes. “Then we are on the Alleyras plateau where the paths lead us through woods and streams. The next day, visit the very beautiful town of Puy-en-Velay with its many religious buildings starting with the Saint-Michel sanctuary at summit of the Rocher de l’Aiguilhe, then stroll through the small streets of the old town Then the Notre Dame du Puy Cathedral, a magnificent Romanesque building from which pilgrims leave for Santiago de Compostela and finally the Corneille rock and the statue of the Virgin who dominates the city”, say the participants. On the way back, the Boétien hikers admired the Beaume waterfall and the volcanic lake of Bouchet. The return route passed through the Gorges de l’Allier and its breathtaking panoramas. “On the way back, we stopped at Espalion with its Pont Vieux over the Lot then at Conques and its majestic Abbey Church dedicated to Sainte Foy with its tympanum of the Last Judgment and its stained glass windows by Pierre Soulages”.
