Red vigilance lifted this Friday, Météo France maintains 18 departments in Orange

WEATHER – Stay cautious. The Cévennes episode which hit France hard on Wednesday and Thursday “is finished”indicates Météo-France which lifted red vigilance in France this Friday, October 18 in the morning, but kept 18 departments on Orange vigilance in the face of the risk of rain-floods or floods.

Rain is still expected this Friday “but in no way comparable to the rainy episode of the last two days”, underlines Météo-France. The lull was observed in Ardèche, in Center-Val-de-Loire, the Paris basin, the Alpes-Maritimes and Var at the end of the night.

This Friday morning, we should still expect a disturbance in the South-West where the rain could continue to fall heavily until the beginning of the afternoon. “Sometimes sustained stormy showers affect Franche-Comté and Burgundy, then rise to Lorraine”also indicates Météo-France.

In the north of Occitanie, watch out this Friday morning for the rains which “remain frequent and can still be sustained”underlines the weather institute. In the Cévennes, “the weather remains humid but the rains are much lighter than the previous days.” More broadly, the south-eastern quarter of the country will experience showers but clearings will arrive during the morning.

An episode “unprecedented in its scale”

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées, precipitation should also ease in the morning. Météo France forecasts here “very significant rainfall accumulations, locally exceeding 100 mm since the start of the episode, particularly in the Basque mountains”.

And you shouldn’t expect the good weather to return right away. “In the evening, the sky darkens over the Breton tip with the arrival of a new disturbance” from Brittany, warns Météo-France.
