Long announced as close to the Algerian selection, Yacine Adli finally opted for the French team.
After criticizing the policy of the Algerian football federation with Zack Nani, the player returned to discussions with the former coach of the Greens, Djamel Belmadi: “I talked a lot with Belmadi, we talked about everything. I spoke with him for two and a half, three hours. We talked for maybe four minutes about me and for two hours we talked about the selection. He saw that I knew everything because I watch all the matches because obviously I am the selection but that’s the fan side, it’s Yacine Adli the fan.»
Despite this strong interest in Algeria, Yacine Adli indicates that her choice was motivated by a career choice: “ When I make a decision, I make it by being Yacine Adli the player. I make a decision about my career, about my family. For me football is not a hobby, it is my livelihood. That is to say, when I make a decision I cannot make it with emotions.»
While he has not yet had any selection for the French team since the announcement of his choice, Yacine Adli indicates that this is no reason to turn back: “I have greater esteem for Algeria, un great respect for Algeria because I won’t allow myself to say my goal is the French team and if I don’t succeed I will say that I want to play for Algeria.
