As its name suggests, a repair café is a place where we come to repair together! Clothing, small household appliances, bicycles, toys, computers, etc. With the volunteers, over a snack, we learn, we share, and we give a second life to our objects. And this weekend, there’s an event, it’s the tip alert!
This Saturday, the region’s Repair cafés are organizing “Les Hauts-de-France repair”! It’s the 4th edition and it’s happening in the 4 corners of Hauts-de-France with the aim of highlighting these places of life! During this day they will • repair with residents, • inform on the issues of repair, • make their structure known to a public to raise awareness of sustainable consumption patterns and repair, • make known repair solutions near from home! I wanted to give you some numbers too. In 2023, Hauts-de-France repairs were: • 39 places open, involving more than 70 Repair Cafés • Nearly 500 volunteers – 1,400 participants made aware of repairs • 954 objects presented – 525 objects repaired – 210 repairable • i.e. 1.9 Tons of waste avoided. So if you want to save money by repairing items that can be expensive to replace with those who know how to do it, head to the Repairs Cafés in the region and take advantage of this special day to discover them!
