Dakar, Oct 16 (APS) – The Senegal national Beach Soccer team left Dakar on Wednesday morning to travel to Hurghada, Egypt, where it will take part in the African Cup of Nations of the discipline planned from October 19 to 26.
The Lions of Senegal, title holders and seven-time African champions, received the national flag on Tuesday from the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Khady Diène Gaye.
Senegal is in Pool B along with Mozambique, Malawi and Mauritania.
Eight countries will participate in this twelfth edition of the Beach Soccer CAN. The other nations are Ghana, Malawi, Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique and Tanzania.
They will be divided into two groups of four.
The Senegal Lions, seven-time African champions, are the defending champions.
The Beach Soccer CAN is a qualifier for the final phases of the World Cup of the discipline scheduled for 2025 in Victoria, Seychelles, (1is– May 11).
Egypt is hosting the African Cup of Nations for the second time, after the 2018 edition in Sharm El Sheikh.
