This has been the goal since I started diving when I was 4 years old. I’m really happy to have had five good dives in the final.

Erlam was in 2nd position, 16 points behind Ware, after three rounds in the final. Although the 21-year-old Albertan performed her fourth jump well, Ware made an error entering the water which caused her to fall to 2nd place, 4.47 points behind Erlam.

During the fifth and final round, after a delay of a few minutes due to technical problems, Erlam managed to ignore the nerves and made an excellent dive, collecting scores of 8.5 and 9.

She put all the pressure on Ware who had to achieve a perfect last jump, in vain.

Erlam won the event with a total of 512.85 points, almost 15 points ahead of Ware (497.88).

I knew I had to have a good list of dives for the final, that Pamela would be a top rival, added Erlam. It was a great battle. It’s even more satisfying to achieve this by performing five good dives.

It must be said that the young woman had already announced her colors in the morning during the preliminaries. With her 2nd position, she was behind Ware by only five hundredths of a point.

Fifty percent of the points collected during the preliminaries were added to those of the final phase.

For her part, Mia Vallée had a difficult day, finishing 4th in the preliminary round. In the final, she missed entering the water on her second jump, complicating her chances of Olympic qualification.

No surprises in the men’s 10m

Montreal’s Nathan Zsombor-Murray dominated the competition in the individual 10m to obtain his Olympic qualification on the platform.

He joins his teammate Rylan Wiens, already qualified by virtue of his 5th place at the world championships in Doha, Qatar, last February.

Wiens was not in the competition at Windsor. Zsombor-Murray and Wiens will be making their second Olympic appearance.

I’m super excited, Zsombor-Murray told CBC after qualifying for Paris. The second time will be a new experience. There will be a crowd, which we didn’t have in 2021 in Tokyo.

I am extremely proud, added the Montrealer. I was super nervous. I had expectations, I had already qualified in Tokyo, I was the oldest in the final, but I did my best to be relaxed.

Zsombor-Murray held a comfortable 20-point lead over Benjamin Tessier to start the final. A lead established during the preliminary round.

The 21-year-old Montrealer gave his rivals no chance during the first round of the final, collecting scores of 10 and 9.5 for his first jump.

Zsombor-Murray beat Benjamin Tessier by 41.97 points.

Tessier, however, has nothing to be ashamed of for his performance, having even achieved a perfect 5th jump, according to the seven judges, who all gave him a score of 10.
