The Department organized the welcoming ceremony for new arrivals in the Mauriac district last Saturday, André-Thivet room in Mauriac.
So that these new arrivals can discover the attractiveness of the department and its organization, information spaces were set up in the room.
The new residents have therefore met the services of the Departmental Council which can be useful to them on a daily basis, the tourist offices or the respective communities of communes, the actors of social action, the firefighters, the gendarmerie, the prevention services , parenting and early childhood…
Several representatives of the communities of communes, the Pays de Mauriac, Gentiane and Salers were present to answer questions. Participants received a welcome bag and were able to interact with the elected officials present and share a buffet of Cantal products.
In total, several hundred people who had settled in Cantal for a year received an invitation to the three districts organizing a ceremony.
The mayor, Edwige Zanchi, greeted the new arrivals and welcomed them, then giving the floor to Bruno Faure, president of the Department. “Welcoming new arrivals is a plus for the region which must maintain, or even increase, the number of its inhabitants, one of the lowest in the metropolis.
