Up to 50 millimeters of rain and winds of around 80 km/h are expected in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence until Thursday morning.

It will rain a lot in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, and in particular on Verdon and the border with . Météo decided this Wednesday, October 16 to place the department on yellow alert for “thunderstorms” and “rain-floods” at least until Thursday, October 17 in the morning.

Thunderstorms have already developed in the second part of the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, with significant electrical activity. They are locally accompanied by temporarily heavy rain showers, with accumulations of up to 40 to 50 mm in a very short time.

Wind gusts around 70 to 80 km/h are also possible.

The prefect calls for vigilance

The prefect of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence recommends “maintaining particular attention for the practice of activities sensitive to meteorological risk or exposed to floods”.

Marc Chappuis also recommends “keeping informed of developments in the situation”, in particular by regularly consulting the Météo France bulletin or by calling 32 50.
