Karim Vincent-Viry never stops. His company Finisterestes29, committed to the fight against food waste, has continued to develop since its creation in November 2021. The company, based in Saint-Pol de Léon, has just exceeded the two million baskets sold.
The latter are made up of so-called ugly vegetables and destined for the dumpster because they are out of size. The entrepreneur collects them to sell them at low prices. Or 5.99 euros for a basket of 5 to 7 kg. Fish, fruit and cheese are also offered.
Soon mini-markets
Finisterestes29 now employs 50 employeesuntil now far from employment, and relies on 80 collection points in France, mainly in the West. In Brest, a store opened in April 2022 in the Lambézellec district.
Since the start of the school year, Karim Vincent-Viry has been working in partnership with La Poste. Twenty post offices in Brittany act as collection points, as many are expected in the coming weeks.
The fifty-year-old hopes to take on another challenge: to raise one million euros to create anti-waste convenience stores and develop anti-waste menus (11.99 euros) in restaurants.
Omnipresent on social networks
“It’s not bad for a company that started in a garage,” notes Karim Vincent-Viry, who knows the importance of networks. It was a post on Facebook made by his daughter, relaying her father’s initiative, which started it all. The next day, the entrepreneur, former purchasing director of fruit and vegetables in mass distribution, received a large flood of requests. “Social networks have changed everything,” admits the fifty-year-old. The company communicates via Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
