The rehabilitation work on the Aline Sitoé Diatta stadium has been 80% complete, said Monday the head of the Ziguinchor departmental sports service and director of this main sports infrastructure in the south of the country.

The Aline Sitoé Diatta stadium is today under rehabilitation with international standards. We have a latest generation hybrid lawn, an athletics track and the pitch is well laid out. Today, we are at 80% of the execution rate of the rehabilitation work of this stadiume”, observed Seydina Kâ, in an interview with the APS.

We are waiting for the last Chinese team who will take care of the cleaning, so that the stadium can be technically received for the greatest pleasure of users. It is therefore this Chinese team which will finalize the work of rehabilitating our stadium“, added stadium director Aline Sitoé Diatta.

According to the head of the Ziguinchor departmental sports department, “the issue of sports infrastructure has become a crucial need in Senegal”.

In Senegal, the infrastructural fabric is not sufficient compared to our different disciplines. Senegal has more than 50 sporting disciplines. And, we have difficulty filling this gap in terms of infrastructure”, noted Seydina Kâ.

According to the Aps, he indicated that “public authorities are fighting to establish an excellent infrastructure program in the field of sport”.

The rehabilitation work on the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadiums in Dakar, Aline Sitoé Diatta in Ziguinchor, Lamine Guèye in Kaolack and Ely Manel Fall in Diourbel, was launched in 2022 by the State of Senegal, for a total cost of 40 billion francs Cfa, as part of a program funded by the People’s Republic of China.

The project to rehabilitate the four stadiums is entrusted to the company China state construction engineering corporation Ltd (CSCEC).
