Abdessamad Alhyan was elected head of the Tariq Ibnou Ziyad Initiative (TIZI) network for a two-year term (2024-2026) at the end of an ordinary general meeting held on Sunday, October 13, in Casablanca.

The election was close between the two contenders to succeed Abdellah Nafil, namely Alhyan (27 years old), originally from Agadir, and Imad Mahjoubi (30 years old), from the city of Oujda. Only ten votes separated the two candidates in this election, which saw a participation rate of almost 80% (14% of invalid/blank ballots).

Alhyan, an engineer by training, obtained 46% of the votes, against 40% for his rival, in an online voting operation which allowed members of the 5 regional branches (Rabat, Marrakech, Settat, Agadir, Casablanca) to participate in the process .

He acquired “a clear understanding of how young people can not only be agents of change, but also play a central role in the development of public policies, to build a better and more inclusive Morocco”.

Abdessamad Alhyan was a member of the board of directors of Ibn Zohr University and ENSA Agadir. In 2021, he joined TIZI Casablanca as project manager of the IPPT (TIZI Parliamentary Performance Index). Subsequently, he was appointed head of the political division, actively participating in several major events, before being appointed to the position of vice-president.

Furthermore, the organization’s Ordinary General Assembly made it possible to rejuvenate the composition of the board of directors with the integration of new members from university clubs, notably TIZI-FGSES and TIZI-UIR.

TIZI, created in August 2011, describes itself as “a citizen, patriotic and non-partisan initiative”, originating from civil society and supported by young people, which aims to raise awareness of political action and the promotion of leadership. It now has 2,000 members, 10% of whom are abroad.
