Canadians: Alex Barré-Boulet ignored on waivers; will report to the Rocket

Canadiens forward Alex Barré-Boulet was not claimed on waivers Monday, so he will report to the Rocket of the American League.

The CH announced on Sunday its intention to make the 27-year-old Quebec winger available to the 31 other teams.

We can see this decision by the Montreal staff as a vote of confidence in young Finnish attackers Emil Heineman and Oliver Kapanen.

If all goes as planned, Barré-Boulet will play his first two games Friday and Saturday against the Syracuse Crunch, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s farm club.

This is the team with which he totaled 113 goals and 302 points in 294 games, all spread over six seasons in the American League starting in 2018.

Barré-Boulet participated in the Habs’ first two games, against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, and the next day against the Bruins in Boston. However, he was left out against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

Until now, the forward from Montmagny has played for a little over 10 minutes, on average, has had no points or shots on goal and has had a defensive ratio of minus-2.

Listening to St-Louis’ comments Monday morning, Barré-Boulet was destined to spend more time in the stands than on the ice, at least at the start of the season.

“I’d rather him go play. Barré-Boulet is a guy who will help us this year, but he will help us more if he played good minutes and if he had his touches than by sitting here in the stands. It takes more than 23 players to get through a year. I know he will help us this year. It’s just not now. »
