When an accident occurs with a tram on the Route de Chêne, traffic is completely interrupted between Rive and Moillesulaz. To avoid these blockages, Geneva Public Transport (TPG) will create a turnaround route. Work is planned during the fall holidays.

This diagonal will be built near the Grange-Canal crossroads, connecting “the two parallel lanes to each other to make turnarounds in the event of disruption,” indicates a press release. Bidirectional trams – equipped with two driving cabins – will be able to travel on a longer section. The Route de Chêne is accident-prone, because cars can cross it at various points along the section, thus cutting off the tram tracks.

The work will be carried out during the October school holiday week. From October 18 to 28, tram traffic will undergo several changes and adaptations. More information on www.tpg.ch.

Other sites on this same route are sometimes the scene of accidents. Sunday evening around 9:30 p.m., a car collided with a tram near rue Pictet-de-Bock, where a pre-selection allows you to cross the tracks.
