“White rabbits”: did these surprise guests of the municipal elections succeed?

However, Georges-Louis Bouchez does not have such a bad score: the president of the MR still obtains the eighth score in Wallonia, all municipalities combined. His socialist rival climbs onto the podium, in second position.

The first step on the podium goes to the one who has been on the rise for several months. Maxime Prévot, who managed to bring the ex-CDH out of the void to which it seemed to be promised: not only did the Engagés continue their momentum in federal and regional elections, but their Namur mentor established himself as Walloon emperor, with 15,682 votes preferably obtained in the Walloon capital.

Who won these 2024 municipal elections? Several parties won the vote, but we also have a “spectacular” loser

In third position, we find another party president: Paul Magnette, who obtained 12,080 votes in Charleroi.

If we look at the top 10, we notice one important thing: if the PS cannot claim to have crushed these elections, we find eight socialists there for a single Engagé (Maxime Prévot) and a single MR (Georges-Louis Bouchez). In the top 20, we find 12 socialists (to which we must add Olivier Bordon, socialist dissident in Sambreville), five MRs, and two Engagés. Note that the first Ecolo, Caroline Saal in Liège, only obtained 4,186 votes.

Quite logically, it is the candidates from the most populous cities who dominate the ranking. Let us nevertheless note the very good performance of Laurent Devin who finished 10th best scorer (6,561) in a commune of Binche which only has 33,000 inhabitants.
