The PS and the PTB will discuss in Molenbeek
In Molenbeek, three parties are in a bind after the final results: with the socialist left, PS-Vooruit, which obtains 23.1% of the votes, ahead of the far left of the PTB-PVDA, at 22.2%, and the MR, 17.1%. Highly anticipated, the Fouad team won 14.6% of the votes. In Saint-Josse, the ex-socialist Emir Kir remains all-powerful. He again obtained an absolute majority with more than 50% of the votes. The mayor of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean Catherine Moureaux (PS) will begin discussions with the PTB with a view to forming a majority in this Brussels municipality. “Clearly, we will start by looking at the PTB,” she told RTBF. “What matters is to hear the signal of protest, of socio-economic difficulties, and therefore to create a majority of progress. (…) Progress is necessarily on the left and therefore, it begins with discussions with the PTB which is the second force after us,” explained Catherine Moureaux.

In Watermael-Boitsfort, where the 24 offices are known, the MR-Les Engagés alliance passes Ecolo-Groen (38% against 26.2%). In Etterbeek, Vincent Dewolf (MR) is holding on: his mayor’s list collects more than 37.8% of the votes, far ahead of Ecolo-Groen (21.4%). The LBJette list led by Mayor Claire Vandevivere came first on Sunday in the Brussels commune of Jette. Although down 13.8 points, it obtained 24% of the votes and will have 11 seats out of 37 (-5) in the next municipal council. The MR-VLD led by regional Budget Minister Sven Gatz is second (17.2%, 7 seats, +2). The socialists of PS-Vooruit complete the podium with 14.1% (6 seats, =). The MR comes first in Forest
The MR-Défi cartel took the lead on Sunday in the Brussels commune of Forest, where four parties are closely held, beyond 20%. The Liberals win. They obtained 25.8% of the votes (10 seats), ahead of the socialists PS-Vooruit (24.8%, 9 seats), the communists PTB-PVDA (21.2%, 8 seats) and Ecolo-Groen (20 .8%, 8 seats), who obtained the mayoralty in 2018. The List of Mayor Boris Dilliès (MR) came first in the Brussels municipality of Uccle. With 39.8% of the votes, this cartel list with Défi, however, does not obtain an absolute majority. Ecolo-Groen, which sat in the outgoing majority, came in second place and obtained 21.6%, down 5.2 points (10 seats, -3). Behind, the PS is progressing (13.5%, +5.8 points) and winning 6 seats (+3). In Etterbeek, the List of liberal mayor Vincent De Wolf won with 37.8% (-3.6%) ahead of Ecolo (21.4%; -6.5%), Les Engagés (12.2%; +4.5%), PS-Vooruit (12%; -0.4%), the PTB (10.6%) and Défi (3.4%; 5.7%). During the campaign, Mayor Vincent De Wolf showed the colors of the future coalition via a pre-electoral agreement with Les Engagés and the PS.
The MR and the PS neck and neck in Anderlecht
The MR-Engagés-CD&V-VLD cartel and the PS+Vooruit list emerged neck and neck from Sunday’s election in Anderlecht, each winning 15 seats, with a percentage slightly more favorable to the MR cartel. In third place the PTB-PVDA list which the June score gave closer to the PS obtained seven seats as in 2018, on a par with Team Fouad Ahidar. Ecolo becomes the smallest formation on the municipal council with three seats (-5). Défi and the N-VA will disappear from the spans.
In Ganshoren, the LB – Mayor’s List led by Jean-Paul Van Laethem came first in the Brussels municipality of Ganshoren. Credited with 31.9% of the votes (11 seats out of 29), it is ahead of the socialist list PS+Citoyens (23.6%, 7 seats) and the liberal Open MR (23.0%, also 7 seats). The president of the Brussels PS and mayor of Koekelberg Ahmed Laaouej won the absolute majority. With 50.3% of the votes, the Mayor’s List is credited with 14 seats out of 27.
