(Keystone-ATS) During the Valais municipal elections this Sunday, the UDC entered the executives of two additional cities: Sierre and Martigny. Overall, the forces present in municipal councils remain stable.

By placing two of its candidates in Sierre and Martigny, the UDC is now present in the towns of the canton. In Monthey, however, the outgoing UDC ran for this new legislature on the Monthey Demain list, a movement which defines itself “without political label or affiliation”.

In Martigny, PLR stronghold, the party remains the majority party with its 5 seats out of 9. The UDC’s gain comes at the expense of the Center. In Sierre, on the other hand, the UDC and the Center each stole a seat to the detriment of the PLR.

In Monthey, the PLR remains the party with the largest number of seats. He progresses by one chair (4 out of 9) by stealing a seat in the Center, whose leavers did not represent themselves.

In Sion, no change in the distribution of political forces. The same goes for the Upper Valais towns of Brig and Visp. Note that on the left, the PS is holding its ground in all cities. As for the Greens, they retain their seats in Sierre and Sion.
