In Evregnies, Alyssia Coorevits and Andy Vandeputte welcomed their little girl, named Ynhelia, a few weeks ago. A happy event for this new family. In their case, their daughter’s first name was obvious and loaded with meaning. “It was the dad who came up with the name. I chose it because I liked the pronunciation, but I didn’t like the way it was written. We changed something. The Y in the first place because in our family and our loved ones, everyone has this letter in their first name. Then we added an H because we found it more beautiful. Finally, the first name ends with Lia, in homage to our friends who lost their little girl who had this first name, it touched us a lot,” explain the young parents.

And that’s how their child’s name was found. The first, at least written this way, in Belgium!

A first refusal

They did not expect to have to face certain difficulties. Whether it is classic, original or of a particular origin, once the choice is made by the parents, it is difficult to change their mind. For Alyssia and Andy, this was the name they needed! “The civil status of the municipality where we declared it did not want to accept this first name. The municipal agent did not like the writing. On site, I found myself faced with a big problem! We absolutely wanted to call it that, with this writing, and we couldn’t imagine that anyone could refuse us. There was no question of changing our first name. Finally, an agent accepted because we really wanted this first name and its spelling had an important meaning for us,” add the parents of little Ynhelia.

A great outcome for these young parents who are now happy and will have a story to tell their daughter in a few years.
