According to information from our colleagues, the rapist has been active since this summer. Armed with a knife, he allegedly targeted young women who were leaving the Les Jeux d’Hiver nightclub. Recently, a victim testified on the Louvain-la-Meuf Facebook page. His story is chilling.
“I am writing to you to warn you that the danger is much closer than you imagine. Thursday 26 (September, Editor’s note), after leaving the Winter Games, I returned alone on foot crossing the Bois de la Cambre. Shortly after entering the woods, a man grabbed me from behind by the throat, he told me that no one would be able to hear me, because there was no one around, and that I I had no choice but to obey his orders. I’ll spare you the details of what follows. This message is an awareness message: never cross the Bois de la Cambre alone, especially at night. Always stay with someone you trust, and if possible, avoid being alone anywhere. I never imagined that such a thing could happen, for me it only happens in movies. If I had known that it could be very real I would not have taken this wood; so be careful, be aware, this garbage is everywhere, it’s lurking.”
In 2017, a taxi driver was convicted of raping a woman also leaving the Winter Games. Between 2011 and 2012, 29 complaints of sexual assault by taxi drivers were filed in Brussels. The young women each time took a taxi near the Bois de la Cambre.
