“The Council of State made its decision due to elements which reached it and which it considered sufficiently important to break the bond of trust which united it to the prefect”, explained the Canton on Friday, to justify the dismissal with immediate effect from Régis Joly, the prefect of Aigle. As a reminder, he had held this position of Government representative within the district for approximately a year and a half.

The RTS investigation unit then discovered that the prefect had a very inappropriate attitude towards an apprentice in his workplace. It would be a question of looks, remarks as well as inappropriate gestures. In addition, Régis Joly would have already been officially warned, a few months earlier, for acts of the same nature. It was therefore unanimously that the Council of State decided to part ways with its collaborator.

The State Councilor in charge of prefects, Christelle Luisier Brodard, did not wish to speak. As for the person concerned, he did not comment on the accusations and simply emphasized, to RTS: “I am shocked and shaken by the decision of the Council of State, but also by the violence with which the procedure was carried out. The man then implied that he could challenge his dismissal in court.
