Air Senegal is more like Air Asia and I don’t recommend it at all! Unfortunate was I to have reached Dakar by Air Senegal from Charles De Gaulle airport this Sunday, October 6. Our flight was initially scheduled for 10:40 a.m. but as usual, they were delayed again even if it was slight.
I told you that it’s Air Senegal or Air Asia because at the check-in counter, you won’t only find Senegalese people and besides, I’m not sure that they are the majority.

I was able to see other nationalities and especially agents who look like Sri Lankans, Pakistanis, I cannot give the exact nationality but for sure they must come from these countries.
But the final straw was seeing an Asian woman placed at the entrance to the boarding gate. This short lady with the luggage scale in her hand is intimidated by whether you are in economy or business class. If you answer “economical” it weighs your luggage again in hand to detect an excess or as they say in their jargon “a surplus”.

When my turn arrived, she told me that I have excess so I either reduce the luggage or I pay 160 euros. I answer her but madame 160 euros nga wax, and I continue by telling her excuse me for sure you don’t understand our language.
I told him why I have to pay 160 euros, that’s a scam. She calls the chef a Senegalese woman who is as dark as me but as much more derogatory and more unpleasant than the foreigner who controls the Senegalese passengers on an Air Senegal flight.

Immediately she said to me sir, we don’t have much time, do you decide, otherwise? I told him otherwise what? She tells me, otherwise you will be taken off the flight. Getting off the flight, okay ma’am, you say how much more. She told me 160 euros, I paid.
She has my hand luggage sent to the hold without giving me any invoice except, sir, you will receive your invoice by email. Besides, for the record, when I gave the lady 200 euros, she asked me if I didn’t have 10 euros, I told her no.
She went around looking for change among her colleagues. Everything suggests that I must have been the only person paying for excess. She was in a hurry to collect the 160 euros but for issuing the invoice, no, she has plenty of time and I hope that I will actually get my invoice.
