The work, estimated at a cost of 6.6 million euros, should make it possible to improve the accessibility of the station.
Work to modernize Briançon station has started. These nighttime works, included in the Regional Accessibility Master Plan, are carried out thanks to funding from the State, the South region and SNCF Gares et Connexions, a subsidiary of the railway company.
The 6.6 million euros invested aim to facilitate access to 300,000 annual travelers, including those with disabilities.
Estimated delivery for next Christmas
Four work areas are to be identified in the Briançon station, with work areas defined as the repair of the platform coverings with the installation of awareness strips for the visually impaired, the raising of the platforms to the height of the floors of the regional trains, the renovation of the track crossing area for pedestrians as well as the creation of an access ramp to the track crossing and the passenger building.
With a budget of 6.6 million euros, the lighting and furniture of the platforms must also be changed to provide greater comfort for users.
The ends of the platforms will be closed by barriers for security reasons. The work, which began in April, will last eight months, giving hope for final delivery by the Christmas period.
