This Monday, May 6, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., a truck carrying the base of a wind turbine mast bit the shoulder and overturned at the edge of departmental road 95, between Machecoul Saint-Meme and Sainte-Pazanne , near the place called la Gâte.
Traffic was therefore cut in both directions, between the La Chagnerie crossroads and the village of La Bourrière. A recovery company from Sainte-Pazanne is still working to get the tractor and the two “claws” out of the ditch.
This giant piece, 17 meters long and 4.5 meters in diameter, rolled into the field. It appears to have taken away the entire vehicle, one of whose wheels caught the edge of the grassy and very wet road. The driver escaped the accident unscathed, suffering only a shock to the shoulder.
Gutmann, a German company, specializes in exceptional transport for international construction projects, such as wind turbines, tunnel boring machines and bridges.
This “piece” of the tour landed at port of Montoir was to be taken to a construction site in Saint-Maurice-Etusson, in Deux-Sèvres.
The wind turbine section should remain on the side of this road for a few days, since it will take two specific cranes to reassemble it on a trailer adapted to its size. During this operation, the road will be closed to traffic again.
