Abbeville residents concerned about security in their city

At the heart of the concerns of the Abbeville residents present this Tuesday for this meeting, there is security. This is particularly the main concern of traders: many say they are afraid since several businesses in Abbeville, including a jewelry store, were victims of burglaries. or its managers threatened. This is the case of Lucien, owner of the L’Entracte bar, who remains shaken by a big fight in his establishment; he also feels in danger when he refuses to serve alcohol to drunk people: “The person opposite does not necessarily understandexplains the manager, so there are death threats, I have already received blows. The police intervene, arrest… but sometimes it can be too late. We can’t have tear gas bombs or anything else to defend ourselves… We feel helpless!

An appointment is also given to social landlords, who testify during this meeting of their difficulty in launching procedures against unscrupulous tenants. This support from justice allows us to act more quicklysomething that the municipalities could not do, underlines the mayor of Abbeville: “We have an elected official box, where we can report problems to the Prosecutorexplains Pascal Demarthe. We file a complaint, and then the Prosecutor, together with the police, can investigate very quickly: it reassures us, it simplifies our lives“, continues the elected official.

The purpose of these meetings is also to make the inhabitants of the Somme better aware of legal actions : “Our actions are often unknowncontinues Jean-Philippe Vicentini. This is why I want to travel, so that we understand that the Prosecutor is certainly based in Amiens, but he is the Prosecutor of the entire Somme. Residents must have a very concrete view of what they can expect from us.and the issues they may raise, for which we must provide solutions“.

Future meetings are planned in particular in Péronne, Montdidier or Roye.
