The 83rd edition of Daaka ended this Sunday, May 5. Medina Gounass, during 10 days of devotion, received different personalities, including members of the Benno Bokk Yaakar coalition. The allies and party comrades of former President Macky Sall, in the last hours of the closing of the religious event, made the trip to meet the Caliph and convey to him the message of the former Head of State. The president of the national assembly, Amadou Mame Diop, who led the delegation was accompanied by the president of the CESE, Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo and former ministers Me Sidiki Kaba, Mansour Faye, Abdoulaye Saydou Sow, among other dignitaries of the late regime.
“Representing President Macky_Sall, I led, this May 4, a strong delegation, made up of members of the APR and the Benno Bokk Yakaar Coalition to the 83rd edition of the Daaka of Medina Gounass. I delivered President SALL’s message to Caliph Thierno Ahmadou Tidiane BA. A message of affection and consideration for him and the faithful of the community of Medina Gounass,” testified Amadou Mame Diop on the social network X.
This year, no difficulties were reported during the holding of the event. State services have deployed the means to ensure the proper conduct of the Daaka, in accordance with the directives of the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye who visited the Caliph three (3) days earlier.
The Daaka of Medina Gounass has been held annually since 1942. It is a spiritual retreat which welcomes thousands of faithful from the country and the sub-region.
