Four years after leaving the ASA, Axa Suisse rejoins the umbrella of Swiss insurers. The company, which had renounced its membership due to political differences, will resume its activity within the association on January 1st.

‘We are happy to see that the general conditions are met to reintegrate us into the Swiss Insurance Association (ASA) as an insurer of all branches…’, rejoices the general director of Axa Switzerland, Fabrizio Petrillo, cited in the joint press release released Friday by Axa Switzerland and the ASA. The former Winterthur Assurance should also be represented again on the association committee at the end of the next general meeting of the ASA, on June 20, in the person of Mr. Petrillo.

Number two in Switzerland in non-life insurance behind La Mobilière and the country’s leading accident insurer, AXA Switzerland left the ASA at the end of 2020 judging that the bases for its presence within the umbrella organization were no longer in place. The departure of the Zurich insurer came after political statements by the then president of the ASA, Rolf Dörig. Mr. Dörig, who notably headed Swiss Life from 2002 to 2008 and currently chairs the board of directors of the life insurer, handed over the presidency of the association to Stefan Mäder in mid-2023.
