The CHENE association collects injured, sick or stranded animals in order to treat them before releasing them into their natural environment.

Two seals were released on Yport beach this Thursday, October 3 to return to the sea, indicates the prefecture of and Seine-Maritime.

The two seals were among the 22 sick, injured or stranded individuals collected by the CHENE association, a wildlife protection organization, which then releases the treated animals into their natural environment.

This Thursday, the launching of the two seals took place in the presence of the Brigitte Bardot foundation, the prefect of Seine-Maritime Jean-Benoît Albertini, as well as a few children.

Good actions to adopt

The prefecture also reminds you of the right actions to adopt when discovering a seal: do not disturb the animals on the beach, and maintain a distance of at least 300 meters.

During the breeding season, a young seal on the beach may be resting or waiting for its mother. The presence of humans can then disturb the animal and prevent its return to its mother, leaving it alone and stranded.

The prefecture reminds that in case of doubt, it is possible to contact the Pelagis observatory at 05.46.44.99.10.
