Kaolack, May 5 (APS) – The twelfth edition of the National Day of the Wandering Mentally Ill will be celebrated on May 1er next June in Kaolack (center), we learned on Sunday from the president of the Senegalese Association for the Monitoring and Assistance of the Mentally Ill (ASSAMM), Ansoumana Dione.

The official ceremony of this day, which will take place at the Ansoumana Dione Center, located in the capital of Saloum, will have the theme: ”The responsibility of society in the care of wandering mentally ill people”, specifies Mr. Dione in a note sent to the APS.

The document indicates that former residents of the said center, stabilized mentally ill people, having benefited from free care at the said structure, as well as their families will take part in this event.

Administrative, territorial, customary, religious authorities, representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Senegal, the diplomatic corps accredited to Senegal, civil society, trade union organizations, among others, will also be there to promoting better care for this vulnerable segment of society.
