the essential
At the beginning of September, annoyed by the noise in the corridor, a history and geography teacher grabbed the first student he came across by the neck. After being taken into police custody and presented to the public prosecutor, he was sentenced to five months in prison with suspended probation.

His action did not go unpunished. At the beginning of September, a week after the start of the school year, a history and geography teacher grabbed a 12-year-old student by the throat in the corridors of the college in downtown where he teaches, no longer able to stand the rowdiness.

Following the complaint filed against him, the teacher was placed in police custody last week, then presented to the Reims public prosecutor’s office on Wednesday September 25 as part of an appearance on prior admission of guilt. The proposed sentence, namely five months in prison with a full probationary suspension, was accepted by the official.

A “context of exhaustion”

Without trying to justify his action, the professor mentioned a context which had exhausted him nervously. His classroom being located above the gymnasium, an area under construction for several months, he explained that the constant noise from the construction site, particularly that of the jackhammer, sometimes made him in an irascible mood.
