Around half past midnight, the cantonal police were informed that people wanted to set fire to containers at the Reitschule in Bern. Once they arrived on site, the police encountered hooded individuals. In a press release released on Sunday afternoon, the Bernese police explained that they were the victim of a targeted attack, while the perpetrators threw stones, fireworks, lasers and bottles at the patrollers. The police responded with rubber bullets, water cannons and irritant gas.

In total, eleven police officers were injured, including three who had to be taken to hospital. In addition, several vehicles, including patrol vehicles, were damaged. The damage from the incident is considerable, according to the Berne police. The road had to be closed for several hours.

It is not known at this time if anyone else at the scene was injured. To advance the investigation, the police are looking for witnesses who can help identify the perpetrators.
